What is the allergy immunotherapy

Allergen-specific immunotherapy is the only medically proven way to fight with allergy symptoms that is highly effective. It prevents our bodies from experiencing a serious allergic reaction that can, in certain cases, be life-threatening.

In order to check if you are in fact allergic, the degree of your allergy and to which hymenoptera insect(s) that allergy is (in order to pick the most appropriate shot) – you should:

When you undergo allergen immunotherapy your body is fed rising doses of a given vaccine (for the venom of a particular insect). This allows for your body to develop a rising tolerance for and grow immune to a given allergen. The speed with which the results of the therapy take effect varies depending on the degree to which you are allergic to a given hymenoptera insect’s venom. Treatment usually lasts from 3 to 5 years.

Allergen immunotherapy for the venom of hymenoptera insects is conducted in specialized clinics all across the country. It is fully refunded  through the National Health Fund (NFZ).
